SPiCE-Target achieved
Electronics in modern automobiles play an increasingly important role. Up to 70 control units regulate comfort, safety and environmental compatibility of a vehicle. The software developed for functionality and quality of the units is the decisive factor in this.
In order to further develop our competence in this area, we began to adjust our development process since 2003 according to the ISO-TR 15504 - better known under the name SPiCE. Hidden behind the term SPiCE (Software Process Improvement Capability dEetermination) is a complex model, with which the maturity degree of a software development process can be assessed. European automobile manufacturers use this assessment model to get an idea of their supplier's expertise in design and development. There is a simple concept behind this approach: High-quality products in a reproducible manner can be achieved only with high-quality processes.
All techniques, phases, documents, and roles applied in our development process are defined under the name HDP, which is short for "Helbako-Developing-Process" Since 2003, the year of foundation, we were working ambitiously to comply with the strict criteria of SPiCE-Level 3.
With success: Almost 5 years after the SPiCE-Project was launched we provided splendid results in the last assessment. We fulfil 10 out of 14 relevant SPiCE categories in the demanding 3rd degree and clearly exceed the requirements in the remaining four of level 2.
The assessors of the company Synspace and BMW evaluate this assessment as one of the best, which they have assigned so far. The result of the assessment is an important confirmation for us and enables us to accomplish ambitious objectives and position ourselves as a first-class electronics supplier for demanding global brands.
