Starting shot for new manufacturing location!
Helbako will produce part of its electronic control systems in Mexico. On 2 May 2011 an agreement has been signed in Munich for the Joint Venture HeWe GmbH. Already at the end of this year the first modules shall leave the factory halls in Mexico.
For Helbako this is the starting shot into a new era. After 34 years, very soon there will also be Helbako products "Made in Mexico". With that Helbako fulfills many times asked for customer demands and improves its position in the global competition.
For the investment in Central America Helbako has found a strong partner with W.E.T. AG. W.E.T. AG is a successful automotive supplier from nearby Munich and benefits from long term international experience. The common subsidiary shall produce in Mexico for W.E.T and Helbako Elektronik. The Joint Venture receives the name "HeWe de Mexico", composed from the initials of both parent companies. Helbako GmbH and W.E.T. AG remain at the same time two legally and economically independent companies.
By the additional manufacturing location extra business can be generated, which cannot be realized any longer in Heiligenhaus due to space reasons. Moreover it becomes more and more interesting for Helbako's customers to procure their purchased parts in the dollar area, in order to compensate currency risks at varying Euro exchange rates. Additionally, Helbako wants to intensify contacts and be nearer to customers in the USA with the location in Central America.
W.E.T. is focused on the infra structure in the newly founded company, whereas Helbako has the responsibility for the production of electronic modules. This is performed in Ciudad Acuņa in Mexico. The logistics center will be at home in the US-American Del Rio in Texas and has the name HeWe Texas Inc.
